overview

This portion of my website reveals the lesson ideas, plans, assignments, and rubrics that I have created so far in my teaching career.  Along with my teaching, this web page will always be a work in progress.  My goal is to share my ideas and resources with as many people in the teaching profession as possible.  I can not explain how thankful I have been to teachers who have shared their resources on the web or at professional development meetings.  Therefore, this is my attempt at thanking teachers who have been so giving and encouraging those who have yet to do so.

There will be a section for each course that I have had an opportunity to teach in Business Education.  Since this website is constantly evolving, you may find that some plans or assignments seem out of order or not available.  Please keep this in mind and use at your own discretion.

planning 10

As a beginning teacher, I have to admit that I was intimated by teaching a new provincial course.  However, now that I look back upon my experiences with teaching Planning 10, I see evidence of my growth in curriculum development, evaluation strategies, management of new graduation requirements, and working with student resistance to these requirements.   This course had a significant impact on one of my goals as an educator, for students to take responsibility for their own learning, and I am grateful for the teachable moments it offered me.  Fortunately, I was part of a Planning 10 team at Riverside Secondary in Coquitlam that was led by Elizabeth Bancroft.  We worked closely in developing lesson plans and assignments that also fell in align with the rest of the secondary schools in the Coquitlam School District.  The following documents were primarily created by Elizabeth Bancroft and Doug Maclean of the Coquitlam School District, which were then personalized for my classroom environments:

marketing 11

Marketing 11 has a special place in my heart as a teacher.  I taught this course as a student teacher at Eric Hamber Secondary and then as a beginning teacher at Riverside Secondary.  It was while teaching this course I learned how to adapt my teaching strategies, offer a variety of assessment tools, and optimize group work.  A consistent theme you will find throughout my lessons and assignments is the opportunity for students to apply their learning.  Marketing surrounds us in our lives and I strongly feel that the more you participate and apply your skills in our world of marketing, the more you will learn about the topic and yourself.
